2011 ANNUAL DINNER

Keegan James McCorry

Keegan is an outstanding 2011 graduate at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School.  He is interested in pursuing a career in chemical engineering or material science and will be attending Michigan State University in the fall.  Recently Keegan was awarded the prestigious Michigan State University Alumni Distinguished Scholarship.

Besides being an academic leader and having excellent test scores, Keegan had very impressive letters of recommendation from his AP instructors.  His chemistry teacher wrote:

When I think of Keegan McCorry, the following scientific leadership qualities come to mind: integrity, courage, intellectual curiosity and creativity.   Keegan’s principle intellectual strengths are; intellectual curiosity and creativity, the aptitude for critical thought and systematic inquiry through independent learning.”

 Keegan’s AP psychology instructor writes:

“Keegan is seen by his peers as a leader.  He is an artist, athlete, scholar, Homecoming King, science nerd and a pleasure to have in class.  He will be doing huge things in the future.”

To be a   class leader one has to excel beyond academics and Keegan has certainly met that challenge.  Among his many outside activities he lettered on the wrestling team and was Captain of both the cross-country and rugby teams.  He sang in both the Cappella and Concert Choirs and was the lead singer in the spring musical.  He plays the guitar and piano.   Keegan was president of the National Honors Society and a four year representative in the Student Congress.  He is a Peer Ministry at Catholic Central and active in the Very Special Arts Day (VSA) program serving special needs children in Kent County.

Well rounded certainly comes to mind when you have the pleasure of knowing Keegan McCorry.

The Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Fund is extremely proud to have Keegan as its 44th Scholar.
